There is an increasing need to reconsider our views of/on performance and especially of/on the performer; this is why Raw Material combines workshops and laboratories with performance making in order to allow for research and experimentation. There is need for a space where freedom is given to the performer as creator, as artist, where the greatest creative freedom stems from a deep personal process. There is need for a return to the simplest attribute of art: being a craft such as the shoemaker's, the carpenter's, the gardener's. Raw Material uses the bare self as base to all work and hence is open and opens the dialogue with international artists of all background.
Raw Material carries out its creative journey principally in the UK, with the possibility to build laboratories and perform world-wide.
